The Model Class 2.22.20

Coaches need coaching.
"The Model Class" is a traditional group CrossFit class led by Coach Nick Gifford (CF-L3), followed by a 30 minute debrief intended for coach development.
What makes an effective coach?
- An effective coach knows how to help people change, and is able to create positive change in others
- An effective coach keeps all class participants of various abilities moving throughout the class
- All class participants are moving the best that they possibly can on that day after a teaching portion
- An effective coach keeps all class participants engaged and feeling positive about their experience as a whole
- An effective coach sees all faults (major and minor) when watching someone in isolation
- An effective coach has a plan, and is able to adapt on the fly
- An effective coach acknowledges all athletes and shows them genuine love, care and respect, and keeps them safe
- An effective coach understands how to specifically motivate unique athletes
In the Model Class, specifically designed for coaches, we're going to try to show you all of these and answer any questions you might have after. Anything is on the table- why did you run the warmup the way you did? Why did you correct this the way you did? How do I do this? How do I do that? Anything related to coaching that is on your mind, feel free to ask. I’ll try to show you relentless coaching and as best of a blend between teaching, seeing, correcting, concise and actionable cues, presence and attitude, group management, and a great workout without fancy “programming”. This will be a safe space for you for coaches to be vulnerable and open about struggles that they're having in class and how they want to improve.
